2013 Bass Phillip Gewurztraminer 750ml

2013 Bass Phillip Gewurztraminer 750ml

Very small production: started as a "hobby wine". Strong varietal, floral aromas with freshness & depth. Backbone of natural acidity. Pronounced minerality. Long palate. Tends to "fatten" with chewey texture after four years in bottle.

BACKGROUND: Leongatha Vineyard vineyard;  9,000 vines/HA;  small plot cropping at approx. 1.0 tonne/acre. Gentle wine with good acidity; often fermented in oak & then approx. 12 months in stainless.

WINEMAKER’S NOTES:  Full of flavour and very “varietal”. Grippy acidity with a balanced roundness of floral, fruity and and lingering aromatics which grab your senses beyond the “back palate”. These gewurz’ develop a creamy texture after about three years in the bottle. A unique style for Australia.

Vintage quality: Excellent

Current condition: Ready to drink, will keep

The 2013 Australian vintage was generally very good.
